Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The newest Far Cry title that players explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and madness with similar glee, all while weaving captivating, socially charged narratives. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose creations have embodied all of those things.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by having a new backdrop and cast of characters in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, visionary sensibility to the audience.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
