Almost 55,000 homes have so far been impacted by the rains, with their possessions and temporary homes ruined.

Intense storms over the last seven days have intensified the precarious situation of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated civilians in the Gaza Strip, according to aid groups.

"Horrendous" Conditions Creates Serious Dangers

A official described the recent storm as "horrendous", with rain so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the terrain.

"These conditions was exceptionally terrible for the families. The downpours were so powerful... And the winds were so powerful," stated the representative.

Officials express grave worry that minors residing in temporary structures in soaked attire will contract hypothermia and various illnesses.

Fatalities and Significant Loss

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures triggered by the harsh conditions.

Further statements indicate a greater death toll. Spokespeople reported that numerous residential buildings had collapsed completely and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families impacted by flooding.
  • More than 40 emergency refuges submerged.
  • Many people forced to move once more.

Relief Operations Considered Not Enough

Groups have increased shipments of tarpaulins, bedding and garments following the ceasefire began, but they have said there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Officials are striving constantly to deliver that assistance and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the necessities is so enormous that we still have thousands of families and children who are truly struggling each evening," warned one official.

Long-Term Issues and Ceasefire Terms

The second phase of the ceasefire encompasses plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of troops, and other provisions.

Humanitarian groups have stressed the necessity for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to respond to pressing and ongoing requirements."

The war was sparked by an attack in late 2023. Following campaigns have resulted in a substantial number of fatalities in the territory, as per medical figures.
