Dominant Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Top Player Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.
The 27-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Season of Consistency
Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Statistics
Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and picked up a record £11m in tournament winnings.
She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a new level".
